Application via Commercial IBC
Step 1
Gather Equipment and Prepare Fertiliser Solution
- Gather Equipment: Collect the necessary equipment – an IBC, suitable fertiliser for your plants, measuring tools, a water source, a pump (if needed), protective gear (gloves,
goggles), and a mixing vessel. - Choose Suitable Fertiliser: Select a water-soluble fertiliser suitable for your plant type andgrowth stage. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for mixing ratios.
Step 2
Prepare Fertiliser Solution
- Measure Fertiliser: Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to measure the correct amount of fertiliser.
- Mix with Water: In a separate mixing vessel, add the appropriate amount of clean water. Gradually add the measured fertiliser, stirring or agitating the solution to dissolve it completely. Ensure thorough dissolution to prevent clogging in the IBC’s dispensing system.
Step 3
Set Up the IBC
- Inspect IBC: Ensure the IBC is clean and in good condition. Check for any damage or contamination.
- Secure Dispensing System: If the IBC has a dispensing system, make sure it is securely attached, and all connections are tight.
- Position IBC: Place the IBC in a convenient and accessible location near the area where you will be applying the fertiliser.
Step 4
Dispense Fertiliser
- Connect Pump (if applicable): If a pump is needed, connect it to the dispensing system following the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Open Valve or Dispensing System: Open the valve or activate the dispensing system on the IBC to allow the fertiliser solution to flow.
- Adjust Flow Rate: If possible, adjust the flow rate to ensure an even application. Be mindful not to apply too quickly, causing runoff.
Step 5
Apply Fertiliser
- Direct Application: Direct the flow of the fertiliser solution to the base of the plants or the target area, ensuring even coverage.
- Control Application Rate: Control the rate of application to avoid over-saturation or runoff. Monitor the dispersion to ensure all plants receive adequate coverage.
Step 6
Clean Up
- Close Valve or Dispensing System: Once the application is complete, close the valve or deactivate the dispensing system on the IBC.
- Rinse IBC: Rinse the IBC and dispensing system with clean water to remove any remaining fertiliser residue.
- Store IBC Properly: If applicable, store the IBC in a secure location, ensuring it is properly sealed to prevent contamination.
Always prioritise safety precautions and follow the specific instructions provided by the IBC manufacturer and the fertiliser product label for correct and safe application. Adjust application rates and methods based on plant needs and environmental conditions for optimal results.
